A new emoji picker

The emoji picker used for reactions and in the text editor has been rebuilt. You now get the full standard emoji set, a search box, localized results, and a skin tone selector — all rendered as your device's own native emoji.

Every emoji, and a search box to find them

The picker previously offered a small fixed list. It now includes the complete set of standard emoji, with a frequently-used row pinned at the top so common picks stay one click away. Type in the search box to filter by name or keyword — "party", "rocket", "thumbs" — instead of scrolling.

Search in your language

Search matches emoji names and keywords in your account language, not just English. If Loomio is set to French, German, Japanese, Portuguese and so on, searching in that language finds the right emoji. English names and common aliases keep working too.

Skin tone selector

A skin tone selector sits next to the search box: click the colored swatch to choose from the default tone plus five skin tones. Your choice is saved to your account and applies everywhere the picker appears — reactions and the text editor alike, on every device you sign in from. Every emoji that supports skin tones updates to match; the yellow smiley faces stay as they are, since the emoji standard doesn't give them tones.

Native emoji everywhere

Reactions and the emoji you add through the picker are now stored and displayed as native unicode characters, so they render using your own device's emoji style and match the look you see in the rest of your apps. Existing reactions carry over automatically, and emoji shortcodes already written in your posts — a :tada: in a comment, thread, poll or outcome — are converted to the emoji itself.
