likely low priority:

I checked my notifications in FF on Android (mobile) but Loomio 2.0 did not register that I'd seen those notifications. Result: I went onto desktop and it said I had two notifications, I checked them and was confused as I'd already seen them

Michael

Timepoll outcome preview email did not display.

However the outcome email with calendar invitation worked fine.

Greg Kan

recently fixed/addressed:

  • double click to edit contexts

  • dont redirect people to the poll page, unless you're gonna fix it

  • notice on edit proposal about new proposals for interations, edit for clarifications and typos.

  • support proposals for comment only

  • notification history for a comment

  • allow different proposal types

  • fix guest editing comment

  • fix sidebar not showing all groups

  • fix anonymous poll vote display

  • fix attachments not appearing in discussion context

  • fix notification history not showing when event has no notifications

Robert Guthrie

Interesting fact, if you paste a link, rather than typing it, it will be automagically linked.

Graham

If I write a URL in a post I'd expect that to be automagically clickable by anyone reading that post and not have to explicitly make it into a link.

Robert Guthrie

Good questions.

  1. We need to the "Explore" page back in, which is an index of publicly findable groups. It's on the list.

  2. I'm still learning how to name "groups" properly. People often start a new parent group when they mean to start a subgroup, so we tried calling it organization, because that's what the group is supposed to represent, which might have helped with that, but it means we're using two terms for the same thing, which is bad. Thinking about alternatives.

I'm sure that in a few months we'll allow multiple levels of subgroup. From there we'll allow users to move groups around the tree.

Graham

Couple of questions:

  1. How do I search Loomio to find open 'groups' that I could read or apply to join? I can't find any UI to list or search stuff that I'm not already part of.

  2. Nomenclature: I'm seeing the word 'group' used in the UI, but not clear what it refers to. At the bottom of my list of stuff on the left hand side I see a thing that seems to be inviting me to create a "New organization". Is that different from a 'group'?

Robert Guthrie

We've replaced it with an effect perhaps even more startling! It's getting closer though.

update 2019-09-05

  • double click to edit context

  • clear pageError if route changes

  • put video into welcome modal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXdl2Oon7bs)

  • show if user is on 2.0 in admin panel

  • fix outcome notification history

  • alert on proposal edit that you should close and new for significant changes (Editing is only recommended for minor changes or fixing spelling errors, for significant changes, close the poll and start a new one)

  • use orange for unread highlight

  • dont send reminders unless its to a formal group

  • warn if only 1 coordinator (but more than 1 member) of a group

  • put discussion context below the poll in the email.

  • link to use loomio 2 from loomio 1

  • show timezone on user profile

As we mentioned in another thread: Deluxe notifications are here

There is a new group navigation drawer and I'm keen to hear how you find it.

Too many fixes to mention actually xx

Robert Guthrie

This jumping to the correct place is fixed now! ..and I'm really happy with the fix.

The last remaining problem in this space is there are still times when stuff loading above pushes the focused comment off screen... but that's a different issue.

Robert Guthrie

Sorry for the delay in fixing this, I'm working on some other areas right now. Thread rendering/navigation will be given time next week.

Graham

I'm still seeing this in Safari (I reported something like this weeks ago), although it seems to work better with FF.

john gieryn

I click a notification, "PersonX replied to your comment" and i do not arrive to said comment in FF

I then click "Unread" and I do make it to said comment,
although it's one I'd already read :/

john gieryn

similar but maybe different as I believe I navigated to this poll by clicking the link (in another platform):

FFBug: Time poll vote leads to error. All I did was select options and hit vote.

(ir)relevant context: I was the initiator of this time poll, but I went to vote a day later… ca

Michael

Timepoll - after sending invitations, I tried to vote in the timepoll and the following screen appeared. I had to refresh the page to see my active timepoll, and then I could vote...

Greg Kan

after having invited a new user to group, members directory list does not populate with new record

Robert Guthrie

Feels like we're getting pretty close to a release now. Check the "deluxe notifications" thread out for a tour of the new notification features.

links open in new window

  • insert link submit on enter

  • show if subscribed to thread

  • thread item: top line text bottom line buttons

  • Beginning, End rather than context, latest?

  • see when thread/poll/mention notifications were sent and if they've been read

  • see preview of notification email before you send them out

  • show "subscribed" or "not subscribed" to updates on thread page. explain if you'll get announcements.

john gieryn

Can't react to thread (contexts) in FF. I press button (from the dropdown) and nothing happens

Greg Kan

hey @Joriam Philipe i tried logging into one of your test accounts but i could not replicate it! can you please state each step that leads you to this problem? i tried logging in and logging out and everything seemed to be there. i repeated this process again with creating a new thread and then logging out and in again too.

Joriam Philipe

Oh btw @Rob Guthrie

If you wanna test it out, the fake accounts are:
presteprimeiro@gmail.com
prestesecond@gmail.com
prestefourth@gmail.com
prestesixth@gmail.com

The password is always preste1234

Joriam Philipe

Threads and everything inside disappear!

The group still exists in all the 4 fake accounts I created to populate it — but it's always empty when I log in.

When I create a new thread it seems to function normally. I can comment, facilitate and edit it normally. I can even refresh the page and it seems it's all good.

But as soon as I log out (of any of the 4 accounts) the group 'resets' — that even includes member's pictures (though their names remain untouched)

Robert Guthrie

What the???

Groups and threads are just disappearing after log out??

Joriam Philipe

Update on the bug mentioned above:

I tried to create new threads for this same example-group. The threads get created and I can start decisions and comment inside — but as soon as I log out they vanish.

It's impossible to work with this group =/

Joriam Philipe

I created a Time Poll and added a couple of date options. I noticed every time I created a date, a new blank 'option' would show too. I tried to delete them pressing the 'x' button, but they didn't go away, so I just ignored them.

When I click to post the Time Poll, something went very wrong. All my group's threads immediately vanished from the home page and group home page. When I click to load 'recent threads' it loads forever and never shows any results. The only place I can still see the name of my former threads is the notifications menu — and I noticed all my team's photos have vanished as well.

I somehow touched some software uranium when I was creating that time poll — and I was not doing anything unusual at all!

The name of the group is PlasticFree Ocean. Here's some post-disaster reference print screens:

Richard D. Bartlett

I love that I can swipe open the drawers on both sides!

Greg Kan

poll page has no edit vote button

Greg Kan

when in the middle of dot vote, sliders reset to 0. unknown conditions

Robert Guthrie

Done recently:

  • poll title is hidden on poll page

  • need confidence that calendar event function works

  • remove slack/install slack are swapped

  • invite guest to thread is broken. clicking link in email gives permission denied

  • org setup wizard

  • ask new users to set a profile picture if they don't have one

  • Add subgroup button

Connor

You can enclose the URL in backticks like this

https://help.loomio.org/en/user_manual/getting_started/webinar/

to get a one-liner in the code block.

Also, the problem is caused by the second underscore, as enclosing text in underscores is the markdown notation for italics.

It seems that markdown auto-interpretation should be suspended when a link is detected. (Which it is detected, because it is linked automatically.)

john gieryn

I pasted the url

https://help.loomio.org/en/user_manual/getting_started/webinar/

Aside, minor note
I really tried to pull the "I pasted the url" out of the code block but there was no way to do so if I wanted it above/before the url

Robert Guthrie

Hrrmm. Could you please explain what you've done there.

john gieryn

Unclear what time was chosen;

when I checked with Michael, he responded to say "Tuesday 2.30pm. I added a calendar invitation to the outcome. Did it not come through?" ← I'm imagining he set the outcome using 2.0 given that I could not see the chosen time in 1.0 neither

john gieryn

In case it was intended, in FF a mouseover doesn't give Alt-text of the group's name

Robert Guthrie

Thanks Mike,

The logos, without titles are likely here to stay, but I'll fix the tooltip so they're more easily identified. We also have a group setup wizard on the way to ensure people set logo images for their organisation.

Request for keyboard shortcut to toggle sidebar recorded.

I'll make the icons a touch darker, try making the lines a little shorter and the font a touch smaller.

mike_hales

Loomio 2.0 looks very clean and lovely 🙂 Four initial typography/usability responses . .

1 Menu sidebar no longer shows titles of groups, just logos. Logos (tiny logos!) are not really distinctive enough to serve on their own, titles please too. It's the alphabetic ordering of titles that reveals the structure of the listing. Sometimes the title is revealed on mouse-over (group page?) but not always (thread page).

PS In earlier Loomio, the sidebar would appear and disappear with an 's' keypress. Would be nice to have this in Loomio 2.0.

2 On the group home page, names of tabs are so faint it's hard to read them. More distinct name format please.

PS Icons in text editor toolbar are a bit on the grey side too. Blacker please? I have older eyes!

3 Line length in posts is very long and thus hard to fluently scan in blocks of text. Default legible line length of body text in book typesetting is 65-70 characters per line. I make the current Loomio 2.0 line about 90 characters. Shorter default length please.

4 Not sure about this yet but the font size and white space in comments seems to result in fewer comments visible in a window than in Loomio1; thus more scrolling. More visible, less scrolling, is better. Squeeze things up a bit please? Especially if you shorten line length!

Keep it coming! Thanks

john gieryn

Not sure if this screenshot, taken after trying to react to my own comment, helps: Not saying I need/want to be able to react to my own comment – I don't think I've ever had the desire/ seen the need – but the dropdown (comment options) do say "react" and then nothing happens when I hit the button

john gieryn

Can't add a reaction to a thread context nor this comment in FF

Previously mentioned emoji stuff in FF (in case they fell off the list) :

Also it's very strange to react with a 🙂 and the app to display the reaction as a grinning face. When I put the emoji into the text box I get it like normal 🙂; but I'll react to this comment and I'm curious how it will appear to others (I see it as a 😄)

Not sure if this is priority, but eventually FF emojis would look better if displayed as a consistent set, not some yellow faces and some outlines

Jody Connor

Notifications settings - looks a bit hinky. I think that's the technical term? ;o) Are the 'edit' buttons supposed to sit like that?

Joriam Philipe

/\ Ok, new 'bug' (???)

Vertical images become uncomfortably big.

Robert Guthrie

Done as of 2019-08-15

  • global search

  • disable or implement recaptcha on signup

  • show thread title on the card until it's scrolled off the screen

  • Upgrade button and subscription features

  • Ctrl+Enter should save Save/Post/etc.

And other things..

Robert Guthrie

Thanks for that, I'll check it out today

john gieryn

In Beta 89 I'm struggling to figure out how to do this (Firefox and Chromium)

Robert Guthrie

You can! Try it -> Remove from timeline

john gieryn

As a coordinator I would like the ability to unpin a Facilitation event (eg, poll) from the timeline so that I can really curate an easy way for latecomers to jump into the action

¿low importance/ for down the road / perhaps already on your mind?

john gieryn

oh yea (so nice that now it compiles Members, polls, etc; big improvement IMO)

what about "Group and subgroups" or something like this? "All (group with subgroups)" … i dunno… "My groups" may still be the winner thus far

Robert Guthrie

yah! except it's more than just threads..
