Does U3A need a way to make decisions nationally?

If the U3A need a way to make national decisions, will a tool like Loomio help us?

Can we talk about that?

I thought that if each of us invited three people that would make 12 newbies and four originals (who are also newbies of course.) . But given the geographic spread of the first four, there is nobody representing Wellington, and only four from Auckland. In particular Auckland needs a few more people to look at this trial.
That's why I suggested the amendment.

I approve the amendment as long as all members of this trial know it is just a trial of Loomio at this stage,
i consider it helpful to have a reasonable sized group. This should test how easy or confusing the comments and discussion are to follow.

Yes this is a trial and its an interesting concept especially if one chooses options like block or abstain which I haven't tried yet. It would be interesting in a committee situation with lots of topics on the addenda. I see John has a photo of himself. Hows that put on?

Ok so we can see, now where everyone stands. Actually the solution is in Garry's hands. Three of us, the people not in Auckland, are happy for Garry to invite six people, and the vote closing a midday, will authorize him to do that.

However at the moment, Garry see's fit to only invite 3, so that's his choice. It seems that the rest of us have given him permission to invite three more if he chooses.

I agree that it is over to Garry whether he invites a total of 6 people. I am happy with that.

I am adding this as I don't want to lose sight of Garry's point about use by a committee with many topics to discuss. It sounds as though we may need Threads. Too soon to consider at present, but don't let us forget this.
Also restricted number of characters can probably be avoided by using the Attachment?

Yes it does.
Will Loomio help?
I think there are other discussion sites which may be better suited for your needs - perhaps there is a need to research this.

Dont think the timing is right and to go at it now it wont succeed.
Loomio - no good.

I actually think both Bryan, above and Garry above are both right. At some stage New Zealand U3A's do need to find a way to make decisions nationally. Our problems creating a NZ web site point to that.

But I agree with Garry that the timing is not right to make that decision now. So the original question was badly worded, and should not have been offered as a discussion.

Let's see what else people have to offer, if we let this discussion run on for a while. If someone wants to move that this discussion be closed, that's quite in order.
