Occupy’s not dead. Quite the contrary, it is alive, and its contributions and spirit is evident among us. It brought countless legacies of social movement in cities across the globe. It began the story of social movement in others. It made grassroots history in #Oct15, #N17, #D12, #F29, and #MayDay. It saved families from fraudulent foreclosures and superstorms, (1)(2), transferred $50 million from big banks (3), abolished $14.7 million in debts (4), and gave 400+ hours of free medical care on the streets (5). The Occupy Movement is not only dreaming of new systems, it’s making them, and its impact on our society is undeniable. And we’re just getting started!
Announcing our 2014 Occupy National Gathering from THU., July 31st to SUN., Aug. 3rd in Sacramento, CA — a four-day event featuring speakers, music, food, art, education, and of course, direct actions! Stay tuned for info on speakers, skillshares, teach-ins and other activities. Flex your muscles during our movement-building exercises. Occupy will collectively assemble to share our strategies and actions, and return home with strategies that will benefit ourselves, our communities, and our world.

I echo John McGloin's suggestion that we start with our future and present and then about the movement's past accomplishments. Worded this way, the press release only emphasizes the media's premature obituary for our movement.

I abstain because there seem to be enough suggested edits and objection to general message that a re-write is in order. But I applaud Daniel's work and think we could send this out as is as a newswire post to occupy channels.

Imho, starting with"Occupy is not dead," makes us sound extra dead. Start with the future, then the present, then a little historical background.
Also, the actual announcement is usually first.

NB: all the Find us/Plug In info is hotlinked in the email and google doc and would be in the sent press release. didn't carry over to proposal.

I like the yellow and the expect us. I would color the letters in a bit more, darken the yellow (or fill in a bit more, not sure which) And if that R was not so close to the edge, I would burn the edges (maybe a bit, maybe more. maybe both)

I think the thumbnail Expect Us goes nicely with the yellow in phoenix and idea of announcing ourselves.
