With QP2: Buildings well under way, lets start thinking about our QP3 topic. Post some ideas in this thread, and I'll start a vote next week.

Maybe be more generic and focus on all aspects of accessibility data.

...and all things 'waste processing': incinerators; scrap-metal dealers; waste transit stations (where the bin lorry takes your rubbish)

From today's OpenData Manchester newletter:

With the support of the Open Data Institute's Stimulus Fund, Open Data Manchester and waste-data experts Your Dsposal have co-designed, prototyped and tested a new data standard for the waste industry.

The Open3R standard focusses on the inconsistency of information about Household Waste Recycling Centres, 'the tip', which means people often find it hard to find out things like what can and can't be recycled locally.

The lack of interoperable, digital systems in the waste industry is bad for the environment and leaves it open to abuse from serious and organised crime – while we know that creating open-data standards can reduce inefficiencies and open up opportunities for innovation.

You can access the data standard, the first associated dataset and the upcoming plans for the data standard here.

Keep an eye on the newsletter for more developments on this project – or email [email protected] if you'd like to get involved with this project.

Possibly it may help define what needs to be mapped and provide a source of data

Indeed it is. I've been doing hackdays with Dsposal and CodeTheCity in Aberdeen to build https://openwastemap.uk/ We intend to output data to the Open Data Manchester-produced standard + make a user interface that Councils and citizens find easy to use to enter and update data.

With the end of lockdown and (we hope) half-decent weather, something outdoorsy and countryside-oriented? Another footpaths/ROW oriented project like the one from 2018?

+1 for outside stuff.

I feel my local place (Isle of Wight) is in the 80% category, it looks done, but there is probably a lot more that could be done.

I've always wanted us to do a QP on tourism: information centres/boards, beach features, seafront-shops, etc. Big potential that these have closed/changed since being last mapped.

Even when it's not a big tourist destination, a lot of places have history trails or things like that to follow/map.
