Application and acceptance of Local Board accomodation grant
We are applying for an accomodation grant via the local council board. Funding is to help pay for rent of the spaces so that membership fees can be invested more directly in purchasing more tools, materials and consumables. There are some conditions that come with accepting money from the local board. These will be described below:

The positives outweigh the negatives. It would be like we're leveling up.

How much funding are we potentially talking about?

I think it's pretty great we've got this far without outside help, but I also think council injecting a bunch of funds into our group will do a lot of good - and this particular way of doing it has very few strings attached

I'm unfamiliar with a lot of how Hackland or the council actually works, so take this with a grain of salt.
Being beholden to the council doesn't really bode well, in my opinion. If we become reliant on the money they give to us - if they even do - it means that they could start introducing other policies that members may not like or agree with, and we would be forced into adoption, as to not lose the money.

It s worth a try - if Hackland gets the funding, we can test it out for one year and see if there is any issues w local council. That would be a nice relief/bonus for the place. And might allow a little budget for new project/idea/big fixes. Happy to contribute with the writing.

OMG, I didn't know the rent was so high. Take the money, take the money!!! BTW, when is the application due? Because if we get media coverage for ALoT's launch party from a newspaper/magazine/TV station it will increase our odds of getting a grant and obtaining the maximum amount. How? Coupled with the glowing magazine article on HL, https://tinyurl.com/yyscrskt it will showcase and provide evidence that HL engages/assists/contributes/supports the local community :fingers_crossed:

I think this is a good chance for the council to see what Hackland is and that there are plenty of people interested in community workshops and shared spaces. The terms that they offered seem fair and if Hackland is seen to be partnered with Auckland Council, some people may be more inclined to join or take part as well. Win Win

Functionally, I would expect so. Many of the requirements will probably not be acted upon.
The rest of them are pretty easy to meet

I presume "photos of the activity are to be provided to the local board" can be already met easily with the existing stock of photos. I also presume "speaking opportunity for local board delegate at any event, function, project launch" will not happen often, if at all. Also, does "inclusion of local board logo on advertising and display of local board branding at events" mean we just need to add a logo on the website and/or Meetup.com (for the events) and to put a local board sticker on the wall? Would rent cover both HL and HL++?
