The Members of the party need to be Non-Anonymous. Closed Sun 5 May 2013 4:44PM

While Pirate Party has always stood for privacy and anonymity online but being a forum and group that will be be politically representing we can't allow the members of this group to be anonymous. Members being anonymous in this case can be considered as representatives in parliament being anonymous.

We need this to prevent fake votes, introduction of dummy members and make the members more accountable to the community.

The users identity have to be verified by verifying the email and by examining a social network forum profile, OR an existing member may present an affidavit to the group verifying the new member.

While I am against attack on online anonymity. considering we are not just an online forum is to be a public representation group, we have to put in this system in place.

While I agree with idea, I have disagreement in the details.

Email and social networking forum profile cannot be used to verify a user.

I would rather propose a chain of trust/ web of trust model instead.

While agree we can't have a Political Party with Anonymous members, we need to have a less laughable verification process... @Kiran Can you elaborate on your idea of Circle of Trust.

@praveenarimbrathod @kirangolla Ok, I too agree that email, and social network is not a very good method to verify. So what are the other options we have.

The web of trust method wont work because we we cant guarantee that at least one member will know the other person.

  • Asking for scanned documents etc will be very tiresome and will become an unwanted hoop.

  • What if we ask them to apply and we take their mobile and one of us call and confirm.

We need to somehow solve this issue. I felt that if we can confirm the email ID and a linked Social profile which have been in use for some time we could to a good extend identify this.

Any suggestions.
