Being a sponsor/partner at Congress on 23 June, London

  • I've posted here as it may need to become a vote?

Co-op Congress the national conference for the co-op movement is in London on Sat 23 June and is attended by around 400 people from CEO's and Chairs of the larger co-ops, down the the smaller community and worker co-ops.

I would like to theme part of the conference around tech/platform co-ops as there is a lot going on and I want to reach out to this new audience. Having one of the workshop rooms branded as "in partnership with Co-tech" and other visibility for your co-ops would be mutually beneficial I think particuarly considering some of the conversation I took part in at your recent conference.

I'm not looking for direct sponsorship cash, but it would be good in return for getting your brand/sponsorship of this room. Cotech members could commit to support the event by:
exhibiting, attending, marketing the event to your wider networks and most importantly helping us source some really good/innovative speakers and sessions for this workshop room.

Obviously I need to hammer out all the details but this is just an in principle are Co-tech interested and who should I talk to.

I think this sounds great. There is still a perception that co-ops are a bit second best even among many co-ops and it would be great to set the record straight. It's also madness that they're hiring non-co-operative businesses while other non-co-operative businesses are hiring us!

Sounds like a great idea, I presented about CoTech last year with @ievapadagaite at Congress and it went down well but I think there were a perception before we started that it was going to be too tech heavy. It would be great to go back with a bigger representation to show that there are lots of facets to it, and that we're doing good things.

Great I'll take this forward, first stage I'll talk to the comms working group about branding.

A more formal agreement can be written up if required, but in principle for the proposal:

Co-operatives UK brands the tech stream and workshop room at Congress "In partnership with Co-tech" and mentions this in the programme, website and event marketing (assuming you give us the text and logo's).

In return, Cotech members agree to:
- Help source innovative and relevant speakers from the tech sector and their own members (Co-ops UK get final say on inclusion in the programme)
- Market the event to their tech networks and put is a good attendance from their own members
- A decent number of Co-tech members exhibit.
(Normal Co-ops UK member discount apply for tickets and ehibitors)

Agree, on the basis that I would be interested to help design the tech stream.

@johnatherton I don't have a good answer to your question "who should I talk to". I wonder if it's worth starting a more general, open discussion over on community.coops.tech if this proposal passes and see if someone is willing to volunteer from a CoTech member to be the person who takes the organisation of this on.
