Guidelines and moderators

AV Agustina Vidal Public Seen by 15

we are going to be opening this group for volunteers and we may get a lot of people with a lot of diversity, which sometimes can get conflictive. Moving towards professionalising the workspace, the proposal is to write basic guidelines for posting/interacting in the central group, and appoint moderators.

i think that self-accountability to guidelines should be TOP priority, but human character tells me that in the crunch, the craziness, the passion, that mods would be a good idea - JUST IN CASE.

i'm ALL FOR guidelines/conduct outlines.

I 100% agree. I also think transparency and disclosure by moderators about any action taken is an absolute necessity. Moderators could well act as "secretaries" for the organization task group as well, keeping docs in order and discussions on topic.

I agree with qualifications. I think self-moderation is best and we need to be adults and resolve issues ourselves. However, realistically, I think having some moderation could be helpful. I think this needs more discussion in the forum.

I agree with basic conduct guidelines. I am not opposed to moderators. Is self-accountability to said guidelines possible?

I would like to say yes Steph, and I like to think we would strive for that, whether we have moderators or not... but i wouldn't want to risk it... we have one week top make an impact and assigning moderators is not hard... awesome if they are never needed!

yeah, agreed - better to have them there if we need them, and not have to use them, than to have everything go to hell in a handbasket, and us wishing we'd just put 2 or 3 mods in.
