Use a loomio sub-group for workshop participants to have dialogues. Closed Fri 14 Apr 2017 11:02AM

So, our first vote is completed. The response was not very strong (4 out of 22), but we are all learning how to use loomio so some initial disconnect is to be expected. Nevertheless, we will move forward now. With Jose away for ten days, I am going to initiate the new conversation thread option rather than setting up a new sub-group. As Jack and others have been generating interest in being a part of an extended dialogue, I think now is the time to get a new thread started. I hope you all will support the effort. Lonnie

This is a proposal to use the existing "open conversations" sub group or a new sub group where participants can have dialogues regarding findings/conclusions/questions emerging from the participatory workshops.

My preference is for a new sub-group, but I am open to either.

I think this is a practical way of connecting workshop participants.

This is great but we still need a tab for preparatory workshop feedback w
Hitch will be in report form. This would not be the place to post reports unless I am misunderstanding

Hi everyone,

Lonnie has set up this thread "Supporting Dialogues Across Participatory Workshops".

I know we are all action researchers and therefore are facilitators!! More facilitators here than we can shake a stick at ;) So others feel free to jump in as well. But just to get the ball rolling, I'll act as a facilitator just to kick things off.

So two things -

1) remember to vote on the proposal Lonnie put forward

2) please list any issues / problems / questions / challenges with regard to "Supporting Dialogues Across Participatory Workshops" - lets get a sense of what the issues are.

thanks

jose

This new link is totally new for me. I am in the process of understanding this link so that more Sri Lankans with action research experience can join this forum and contribute to the task.

HI Godwin - the link has only just begun, so it is new to all of us ! Perhaps we could make a start by sharing what we are doing to support dialogues across the various participatory workshops that have happened and are happening in preparation for the Global Assembly. I've put the report on the 1st participatory workshop held on the 4th February at: https://knowledgedemocracy.org/2017/02/15/report-on-the-carn-study-daypre-conference-workshop/

I'd really like to gain a better understanding of the knowledge(s) that are being created and shared between Sri Lankan action.researchers. I hoping that you can help me to develop this better understanding.

Hi everyone,
i organised a dialogue two weeks ago and have all these notes fromt the discussions. How are we organising these notes in the best way for other to get hold of the discussions?
any ideas?
Karin

Hi Karin.
One of the things I think will be resolved within the next week is how to begin "working with" the data from the workshops. So far, there seem to be two directions: 1) use the notes/data for dialogues that will take place in the loomio space (whichever we decide: a conversation thread or a sub-group; 2) assemble a small team to mine the data for themes to report to the June 12 pre-conference workshop being organized by Christine, you, and Peter and to the June 16 Global Assembly. Does this help?

Hi Lesley,

Yes we can create a link on the website that has all reports from preparatory workshops, that can then be used for discussion in the sub group that gets created. Facilitators and others will then just need to copy and paste the URL to the website link into the loomio group discussion. But that is petty easy.

Does that help / answer your question?

Jose
