Hi everyone

A reminder, please vote!

This is your chance to get some practice with this new system, and also have your say about this proposal.

There is only about 7 hours left.

Thanks!

Yes, please vote! We will be using votes increasingly in the coming weeks and it is important that we all become familiar with the procedure on loomio.

Everyone included is a part of the Global Assembly Coordinating Group, and it is this fine group that is going to take us across the finish line on June 16!

Warm Regards,

Lonnie

Will the workshop participants have access to this platform?

Jose Ramos will be posting a request shortly that has to do with the final elements of our organization for the June 16 Global Assembly. The roles Jose list are essential to the success of our Global Assembly program. As we have chosen not to focus the day on numerous speeches, our challenge has been to design a program in which we experience present moments of intercultural translation of experiences with action research and participatory action research and the practice of knowledge democracy. For this to happen we have chosen to democratize the facilitation, note taking and translation processes on June 16. We seek volunteers who are willing to do their best to listen carefully and write down the key ideas being shared at each of 12 tables in the assembly hall. We also need people who are willing to facilitate democratic dialogue at each of the tables. In essence, we need 12 sets of three people, that is, 36 volunteers, with 12 serving as facilitators, 12 as note takers and 12 as translators. Jose will be setting up a design tool that we ask volunteers to respond to. Thank you for considering this request!

Hello everyone,
Greeting from beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I am doing some faculty development work up here in Grand Teton National Park until Friday and the internet connection very bad. When I come to town I can access the net, but starting tomorrow, that won't happen often, so my apologies ahead of time for my lack of timely responses.

I too like the shortened length of time for speakers and more time for table work. I'm thinking the 36 people we will need might be a tall order, but perhaps I'm wrong. A suggestion if we run short of volunteers and need to cut corners, might be to ensure facilitators and translators and if we run short, cut the transcribers. My thinking is that with a world cafe format, usually there are large pieces of butcher paper and markers at each table. This is a place for everyone to write or draw their thoughts and also since we now have a graphic note taker (yay!) to visually capture the large group report-outs, these two things might at least help capture much of the dialogue. Also, do I recall something about trying to record each table? This might be a good idea, on the other hand, who will transcribe everything?

I'm getting a bit lost between all the emails and loomio posts, but I think someone also mentioned something about not making people feel as thought they are doing something wrong or not enough. This resonated with me as I think dialogue can be such a powerful tool for creating space for emerging ideas. Lonnie, at one point you mentioned something about meeting with the facilitators ahead of time to share some tips on facilitating dialogue. I'd be happy to do this if we have a time and space available for this.

Signing off for now-
Janel
