Jan 8 Empathy Cafe Report
Our team is thrilled about the turnout at the last Jan 8, Empathy Cafe. We had 32 participants.  Was the largest online cafe yet with enjoyable and informative conversations. Was a challenge with all the logistics of creating rooms, etc. See the full report, video and notes at: http://bit.ly/39WUiIg

EMPATHY CIRCLES FOR DEEP DEMOCRACY

An Empathy Circle is a structured dialogue process that effectively supports meaningful and constructive dialogue. It increases mutual understanding and connection by ensuring that each person feels fully heard to their satisfaction. This is a foundation of democracy. Conflict resolution is another important use of empathic listening and empathy circles. It is a core aspect of mediation. We are hosting some Empathy Cafes to explore this.

See: https://www.facebook.com/events/552074348716914/

Conflict is a normal part of life. In this Empathy Cafe, we will use the Empathy Circle process to discuss and take tangible actions on;
How might Extinction Rebellion more effectively mediate, facilitate and resolve internal (and external) conflict?

QUESTIONS

  • * What are your personal experiences of conflict in XR?

  • * Are you personally part of, or have seen, unresolved conflicts in XR?  Tells us about them?

  • * What is working well for conflict resolution? And why?

  • * What is not working? And why?

  • * What conflict resolution resources do know about?

  • * What conflict resolution resources would you like to request or offer?

  • * How to take the steps to be a conflict mediator-facilitator?

  • * What ideas do you have for moving forward?
