Montavilla Street Intersection Mural (Mandala)

R robyn Public Seen by 330

Hi All, the Land Use Committee is looking into street murals - those colorful murals painted onto the pavement that provide traffic calming as well as placemaking and help build community. What are the intersections in Montavilla that you think would benefit from a street mural? (& why)

This neighborhood originally had a Scandinavian population. The school now has a sizable Hispanic population. Perhaps an international theme celebrating various immigrant groups.

East Montavilla: possible locations related to pioneer & Japanese farmers. William Brainard was a farmer and donated the land for Brainard Cemetery, so possibly near this. I'm trying to find locations of Japanese farms that are within the current Montavilla boundaries. No luck so far.

It would be cool to reproduce the Montavilla street car line spur between Glisan & Stark. Maybe too ambitious, but an intersection, say at Couch or Everett could have a street car theme. This would be near Vestal School.
