As our first discussion/decision on Loomio, let's discuss whether or not we'd like to set up a listserv for the group. The only system I'm currently familiar with is google groups, but if others have better suggestions, this is the place to recommend them.

Hello,
First point : do we need it ? Why not start the discusssion directly in loomio ? It will oriente the discussion more on the decision making than on a general discussion.
If we decide to set up a list of discussion, usually, I prefer to use a self managed system than google. It better to take care of our technical souverainity. In France and French speaking countries, we already have one dedicated to the discussions linked with Commons issue. It is not only French speaking. It was used for the preparation of ICC in Berlin. I can create a new liste and manage it if needed. Let me know.

I'm with Frederic on this one. I like the idea of using Loomio, as it's a co-op project and I've already got more email in my inbox than I know what to do with. For the time being, I think we should just try to get everyone who's interested signed up and see how it works. If we decide we want a listserv, I would like to use Frederic's just to avoid Google.

Hi, All,
I agree. Let's try Loomio first. If we need something else, I like the suggestion to use a private listserve.

We will begin using Loomio as our main organizing platform.

It seems only right to use a tool designed by a co-op to support the commons.

This seems like a unique, simple, and collaborate platform, and I receive email updates whenever there is activity. If a limitation is discovered, I have no problems also moving to a listserv.

Let's leverage the discrete and central function of proposing what we care about!

I generally find listservs the most convenient way to carry on a discussion, even if it fills up mailboxes.
One possibility for running a listserv is at https://lists.schokokeks.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi. The Commons Institut in Germany runs its listservs there, and all kinds of other progressive groups do so too - perhaps a good way of avoiding the Google data-gathering machine.
