I disagree. The email team's job is to filter the mail to the right wgs or individuals, make initial contact, add to the spreadsheet.
Typically, a volunteer coordinator within the Outreach wg then coordinates the vols. I thought someone volunteered to be Volunteer Coordinator months ago. Maybe @bobby ?

so far, the email admins are doing as above (making first contact and adding to spreadsheet https://calc.mayfirst.org/Volunteer_Submissions), then sending the actual form to Outreach email list.
If it's for online volunteering, they're directed to where to plug in by the initial contact email.
For on the ground (that's you - assume you want to do on the ground or all?), you can handle however you want; recommend contacting or confirming again about 2 weeks out. Then, of course, the actual on the ground coordinating.
The spreadsheet above is directly copied from the form with all the things an individual wants to volunteer for, like this example:
Facilitation, Food: prep, service, transport, clean-up), Grounds/Venue: firewatch, clean-up, safety, Transporting supplies/people - Have Vehicle

I think the e-mail team should do the follow-up, until the volunteer finds a team with which to work—one of those existing before NatGat, Occupy Sacramento (or Venice Beach?) for on-the-ground during. Outreach will be communicating with groups and individuals, easier to maintain the contact in that single place—really don’t want to fragment another team of volunteer coördination.
