Proposal to Recall Tim Willard as National Committee Delegate

At the Feb. 24 MGP CC meeting, a proposal was made and accepted to recall Tim Willard as one of Maryland's representatives to the National Committee of GPUS on the basis that Tim made inappropriate remarks on the national committee listserv about trans women, for which he later apologized.

I believe our Lavender Caucus, which represents the LGBTIQA+ community and are subject matter experts of their own experiences. They are appalled in the hate/transphobic speech that has been used and so am I

I finally got the backdrop/context for the text message in question. You cannot understand it without that context. The way Tim has been portrayed on the MGP list is misleading. I urge all to not vote or vote this down until the full context is known and discussed. FYI: the MGP meeting at which the vote occurred appeared to lack a quorum.

Forcing Tim out is counter productive.

The process that led to this proposal as well as the discussion that followed violates our principles as well as our core values as a party.

He does not want to be Co-Chair any longer and appears to not represent the Green Party to the best of his abilities.

To the members of the Coordinating Committee:

I am upset about the discussion about the vote to “recall”
Tim Willard. I do not feel that I have
enough information to evaluate the matter.
Without a thorough review we will witness a kangaroo court procedure
that will seriously damage the Green Party of Maryland.

With this message I am making two motions:

First, that we postpone any vote to recall until there is a
thorough discussion of the facts and issues such that the members of the
Coordinating Committee feel that they are sufficiently informed to make a
decision on the matter.

Second, that any vote to recall require unanimous approval
of the members of the Committee.

These motions stand separately. I ask that someone second them.

Yours truly

I would block any request for a unanimous approval. No such thing exists in our bylaws and it should not.

@Thomas Flynn if we extend the conversation would you be ok if we excluded the observers from commenting?

@Mary Tyrtle Rooker there were 7 voting members on the call, but we did not make a decison there.
