Worker Co-op Knowledge-Sharing Session 2025

Current Status:
Proposal for 500euro budget for session with network for consideration (decision by 3rd February 2025)
Current Proposal with network:
Context
The Chicken Coop Animation Co-Op, an emerging worker co-operative in the creative sector, has recently reached out to our network seeking guidance on their path to incorporation. They've developed their 2025 strategy and are at a crucial stage where peer learning could make a significant difference to their development.
This micro-initiative responds directly to their request for an in-person knowledge-sharing session. The group has specifically expressed interest in learning from experienced co-operators about the practical roadmap to incorporation, and they've indicated a strong preference for face-to-face connection with the wider co-op community.
Their timing aligns well with our network's recent decision to invest our remaining budget in practical, focused projects that create value for our members and the wider co-op ecosystem.
What is the decision you need to make?
To approve funding of €500 from our micro-initiatives budget for a structured knowledge-sharing session between experienced worker co-operators and a group looking to form a new worker co-op.
Why is this important?
This initiative directly supports our network's core purpose by:
Facilitating direct knowledge transfer between experienced and emerging co-operators

This sounds great, thank you for putting together the proposal!
If there is any information you need from us to consider the proposal, or any help we can provide in organising the seminar, please let us know - we're happy to help!

approve also, I have been flat out, sorry for the silence. If I can help in anyway let me know.

@aoife3 - can you recommend two GCC members that would be best placed to share their experiences with chicken coop (let them know there is an hourly rate).
@alice07 - anyone from BCS or CWC that would similarly join a session at an hourly rate?
@gregjwayne94 - would your union have a meeting room available for free for this event by any chance? If not, we can reach out to SIPTU who have given similar in the past. Also there is a new co-op space in Phibsborough, though not as handy for those coming from outside of Dublin.

@gregjwayne94 @hummingbirdgreta FYI - the network approved the spend, so just need to organise the thing!

Thats deadly Sam thanks for putting the legwork in. I can check with FSU tomorrow about booking a space, I've never asked for anything other than union specific bookings so I don't know what the policy is. Happy enough to ask though 👍

Hey all FSU is fine to host our event. Just need a date and time.

Gregory Wayne Mon 10 Feb 2025 12:58PM
@Sam Toland is there any particular day of the week or time of day that works best? Would it need to be after working hours? Edit: Thursday February 20th is the only day that doesn't work for February as it is the union meeting and we've booked the space out for it already.
