We need private tools where the really interested members can share information and be connected, we need to be agile.

Use Quip Closed Sat 14 Nov 2015 1:07AM

I work remotely and at work we use a software called QUIP to communicate with the whole team, allows us to edit documents and share documents together, create task lists and give opinions.

I believe that Quip together with a discussion software can be a great solution.

@tiagopita : Looks interesting.

There are two schools of thought on this I guess:
a) use one tool that gives you a single point of truth and has it all
b) use the best tool you can get for each job

QUIP might be a good a)- approach, although I don't know it.

Regarding the b)-approach, I have been using the following set of tool, which works nicely, but you'll have to create instructions and a landing page that refers to all of them for new members.

  • Slack for direct communication
  • google docs to share content and create documents
  • Trello to organize tasks
  • https://slimwiki.com/ has been recommended to me earlier, but I haven't tried it yet
  • I like loomeo for decision making
  • wordpress for websites, although I am not a big fan
  • github for any version controlled content (and open source stuff)

Check https://github.com/cjbarber/ToolsOfTheTrade for a good list, but with a tech startup focus.

Agree with all the tools you suggested, I use them for my business including slimwiki. :)

I have been working on a website, I would like to speed things a bit.

The forum does not look that great, but is very simple to use and is something people are used to.

The website will allow us to have permanent links, like links to Google docs.
