Poor People’s Campaign

The purpose of this email is to send a bit more information on Rev. Barber's and Rev. Theoharis’s Poor People’s Campaign, including the opportunity to tune into a webinar tomorrow afternoon (see more, below).

What is the purpose of the campaign?
The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival aims to build a broad and deep national moral fusion movement – rooted in the leadership of the poor, marginalized and moral agents and reflecting the great moral teachings – to unite our country from the bottom up.

How does this relate to Martin Luther King’s 1958 Poor People’s Campaign?
This campaign has emerged from more than a decade of work by grassroots community and religious leaders, organizations and movements fighting to end systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, environmental destruction & related injustices and to build a just, sustainable and participatory society. The movement draws on the history, vision and unfinished work of the 1968 MLK’s Poor People’s Campaign.
