Bath for Europe shoulder bags

GD Gitte Dawson Public Seen by 422

Yes, can happen for Ian Dunt. Am looking at shoulder bags - see pics: either a fairly flimsy blue cotton bag 38x42 cm on which we would print in yellow (stars, words, website); or a more substantial cotton canvas bag in natural 30 x 35 x 12 cm on which we would print the whole thing (blue, yellow, white) but need to stay 5 cm in from edge ... . Cost £2.70 to £3.50 each, min order 250. Views?
I shall be away from tomorrow for eight days but delivery is 7-10 days from order so can still order on my return.

As nice as these bags are, I think that is too much to spend £750 to 1000 on a single item of merchandise. I am sure many will sell, but equally we will be tying up a lot of our money in stock for too long. Let's discuss ways around this next Thursday at our meeting.Regards

If 250 frightens you I have another similar supplier where the minimum is 100. And I would be happy to finance up front. The advantage I see of bags like this that they might be used (and seen) in people’s ordinary lives – not just when out campaigning (like teeshirts flags and berets).

Thank you for giving us these examples, Gitte. I haven't done much searching, but there do seem to be cheaper options available, for example:

The quality may be inferior, of course, but they look nice enough in the photos.

With 3-spot colour printing (both sides): £287.50 for 250
ie. £1.15 each

I really like the idea. I'd buy one of those to have as a general bag for odd bits from local shops, carry leaflets to Commuter Call etc. In fact, I might even buy two!

I wouldn't buy a fleece which has been suggested before, as I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing that day to day (and more importantly I don't like fleeces). Does it cost much more per unit on the 100 option?

I am still exploring that ... not much, I think, but haven't seen sample bags from the second supplier whereas I do have one each from the 250 option supplier.

Add the risk of stirring up old conversations and an enormous debate (sorry in advance!) merchandise that includes NES would be a little easier to shift - I know this is Bath for Europe but BathNES for Europe would be less divisive (especially when NES actually "needs" activism more than Wera's patch ;-)

I live in NE Somerset - but don't we all relate to Bath? NE Somerset goes all around Bath so I really don't think the words need to appear - I see it as all one unit.

It's a very contentious issue (in and out of Bath) a huge proportion of NES resent anything that says just Bath.

Actually yes, I am aware, it's particularly bad when 'marketing' the wrong representative. However - does anyone other than politicians recognise the term BathNES? Or even 'NE Somerset'?
Perhaps better a separate lot of bags with 'North-East Somerset'? Not much extra cost ...

That's an interesting point and seems, partly at least, to depend on how far they live from the City. As for the separate bag, perhaps not worth it as we don't have a campaign outside Bath.

I was just thinking about conversations I had when knocking on doors in NES and how things like Bath for Europe were deemed irrelevant to them. Of course, campaigning in NES is a whole new, and huge, project though interesting with Rees Mogg the incumbent!
