Ratify the Nextcloud recommendations from Wortley Hall

At Wortley Hall the group evaluating Nextcloud came up with the following recommendations:

  1. Nextcloud should be used for non-public collaboration between CoTech member co-ops.
  2. Every CoTech member co-op should have at least one individual who has administrative permissions on Nextcloud.
  3. Deprecating CoTech's use of Google Drive in favour of Nextcloud.

I'm certainly up for having a go with NextCloud, but I don't think we can guarantee that no-one from Outlandish will ever use Google Drive again.

I think it would be good to have a CoTech NextCloud and see how it goes, as we won't know if it's any good until we try

More lack of knowledge than anything but will go with the flow

Is it possible to change this proposal so that point 1. reads "Nextcloud can be used for non-public collaboration between CoTech member co-ops"? If we are compelled to use Nextcloud for commercially important collaborations on a deadline, for example, I think I'd like some more information on how it's going to be supported and whether we can rely on it being available 24/7.

@chrislowis I didn't write this proposal and with hindsight I think it was a mistake for me to post the poll here, so I have deleted it.

The server is available 24/7 — we don't switch it off in the evening or at weekends, what kind of support are you you wanting to know more about?

I guess I was thinking primarily about reliability (an uptime guarantee or SLA?) and backups/disaster recovery. We chatted a bit about this at WH I think. If we were to move important parts of our business to Nextcloud, I'd expect to have to pay (and I think someone should be paid) for those kind of guarantees.

Hi @chrislowis I haven't forgotten about your questions, I will reply, but perhaps on Discourse.
