I disagree with the public having all the control, as mentioned in comments. I could agree with a slogan contest, with the caveat that the committee selects it rather than a public vote, and may edit/refine as last year when we combined two.

Hmmm, voice of dissent? Haha. I think the slogan should reference a goal each year (if for instance, one year we're more focused toward, say, research, the slogan should reflect that in an approachable way). They committee is going to have a stronger grasp on language we need than the general public. My suspicion is that the slogan will always end up being a version of something like this year's, and while it's charming, it could be a more powerful marketing tool if it related specifically. Not expecting to hold up progress, here, though. I could agree, with the caveat that the committee may edit/refine (as last year when two slogans were combined).
