Grants to Members

MC Matthew Cropp Public Seen by 18

The general membership voted to "to contribute the sum needed to send one of our members to attend the TIIME conference in early February 2018," which raises the question of how we should administer that directive fairly and transparently.

As this is the first instance of reimbursing a participant's training, this is a good opportunity to develop our process by which members are chosen to receive a grant of funds/reimbursements for a particular task that multiple people might qualify to receive.

Let's use this thread to develop these systems for our co-op!

For the specific TIIME conference question, we need to:
- Ascertain what the "sum needed to send one of our members to attend the TIIME conference in early February 2018."
- Determine who is interested in attending, and how their attendance will benefit the co-op.

Once a budget and list of applicants is arrived at, we need to decide if we want to:
- divide the budget between all the applicants,
- give the budget to the applicants to divide among themselves, or
- vote to select one grantee as:
- a committee, or
- a full membership.

This looks like a solid process, but I'm afraid we don't have the time to follow it, if we want to avoid plane tickets to skyrocket... Is there a way we can "shortcut" this time? Also, I don't have the competences to evaluate the benefit for the co-op. @mayel could you provide us with some insights around that?
