We have low funds and two big expenses this year. I oppose further spending until we have a budget and a plan to raise funds for it. We can't spend money whenever anything comes up. We need a plan.

We need a budget rather than making decisions on a whim. We have a ballot access campaign that could require lots of money so I am reluctant to vote in favor without more thought. I am willing to be convinced but am reluctant.
How much money do we have and how much money comes in each month?

A Treasurer's report was sent to listserv earlier this week. We have cash in hand of $1,250 and no upcoming expenses except costs associated with the assembly, and possibly a MGP fundraising/assembly invitation mailing in May. Monthly sustainer income is approximately $250.

We do have expenses - the upcoming annual meeting and petitioning for ballot access. Our current fundraising is very low. So, I believe we should not authorize further spending until we have a budget and a plan to raise funds to meet our needs.

Perhaps a more precise way to state it would be that we have no outstanding invoices. Baltimore Couhty has arranged the venue for the assembly and we have discussed the possibility of paying for catering but we have also discussed a potluck. We can begin work on a budget to pick up in mid-year. Until then, with no plan to hire signature gatherers, I think we support an effort to collect signatures and donations and do outreach by mail. If we engage ballot access volunteers through the mail I think that would be a good use of funds.

I would like to suggest that if the MGP pays for this (and i think it should) that the letter should include an ask for donations to the MGP. I think there is value in the MGP offering to pay parts of mailings and I think it is a thing we can fund raise for, especially when there is no central committee authorized to raise funds in that county.
