The workgroup Action Plan needs to have any last minute adjustments and be approved. Deadline is June 19th.
Action item status:
Dean - getting a flyer and email lists to the various parts of the Zone to be invited
Tom – Send any updates to Dennis about PR material and BTW material to Dean
Dean – Select a couple of appropriate BTW PPT presentations.
If we approve all material, then we are ready for the June 18th deadline. Otherwise, we schedule a meeting for Friday.
That's the agenda for June 15, which is quite a bit, but what else would people like to discuss?
I also want to say for the folks that can't make it whatever the reason but want to contribute, please feel free to grab an agenda item or contribute a new one and start a new tread in this subgroup to discuss it via text. You are totally a part of the group and I want to have all voices heard.

Originally has a hard time getting the prison to even listen to us they don’t want us there they’re not willing to read our letters they don’t ask any questions they don’t contact us how can we get them to be interested? We send package to them telling them what we do and how to do it what we could where would like them to do for us they don’t respond to ignore us they’re prisoners are asking for us for behind the walls through other people nobody’s visiting nobody’s going in and they still will not even listen to us or ask a question even we do not know how to track to the person to be interested that is our problem

It's common to get a NO from prisons. So look for alternate approaches rather than the "front door". Usually the no is due to asking an already understaffed workforce to do more work. So ask others such as a community relations person or a chaplain. Sometimes it's simply no and you can't win them all. We did have good results at going to Reentry managers in every jail and prison and asking that all inmates returning to the outside be given an NA meeting schedule freshly printed off the local website and suggesting they call the NA hotline. Some wardens simply said "we don't have the money". So I went over their head. I went to the NM state Attorney General and Governors office and after almost a year, we got some more money earmarked for video equipment for Volunteer Services. For county jails, going to the Mayor or County Board of Supervisors may help. Again, you won't win them all but trying new approaches and being patient often provides good results. Discussion with the workgroup for Collaboration & Communicating- Inside WSZF
They are doing some similar things therefore we overlap in doing Zonal presentation. So let’s talk – more collaboration.
We need to review:
1. Behind the Walls Sponsorship Program – Posted in Loomio and emailed
2. Flyer for invitation - Dean
3. PowerPoint Intro - Dean
We need to decide as a group whether to make our Zonewide presentation to be a separate H&I and a separate PR presentation or do it all in one shot. We did say we would do this twice to get people who didn’t attend the first one so I am leaning toward the combination but could be convinced otherwise.
Schedule another meeting if needed.
