In this area we’ll be discussing what policies you believe in for justice and the law in the UK. You can propose any policy you see fit and people can discuss it here.

Justice system largely predicated on restorative justice and rehabilitation. As great a reduction of prisons as possible, and certainly no privatisation of them. This should prevent them being crime universities, for a start. A greater element of mental health assessment in the sentencing and handling of persons who commit crimes. A few good well-staffed prisons to handle the really criminal, and some secure mental health facilities for violently ill people who can't be helped by the healthcare system.

Thanks, Marianne. I think looking at Norway's system is a good place to start. http://www.theguardian.com/society/2013/feb/25/norwegian-prison-inmates-treated-like-people. Thoughts?
