Basic Income for all Australian citizens registered to vote

SVD Stefan van der Wel Sun 26 Apr 2015 5:15AM Public Seen by 150

"I am now convinced that the simplest solution to poverty is to abolish it directly by a new widely discussed measure: the guaranteed income," - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

There is also a strong Keynesian economic argument: stimulating growth by increasing demand as well as a moral argument: reducing unnecessary suffering.

It's all upside; everyone wins. Both the major parties have a lot to gain, and which voter would not want to receive this? Centrelink is inefficient and a waste of money! It's not a matter of if but how.

I am yet to listen to a well constructed argument against it and the benefits are so many! For me, one of the best is that people would likely choose to do what they love. Imagine what a great work environment that would be!

I think basic income is the best solution to the coming technological umemployment. We are already way past the point where there will ever be a job for everyone, so we need to find another way.

It will be necessary in the coming automation age.
