Hello! Welcome to the ZaZen message board. This is where we host discussions and make decisions about all the things needed to bring camp to life.

As a camp member we ask you to participate and understand what it takes to make the ZaZen magic happen. This includes:

🎭 Contributions to the playa community - events, parties, offerings

We try to organize the discussions in Themed Threads so it's easy to organize the decisions. If there's something you want to discuss that isn't part of an existing thread please start a new thread.

* UPDATES for 2022 *

Our New approximate location is now 4:00 & Hypnagogia

Camp Dimensions = approximately 150 by 200 ft.

We are going to focus on simplification this year to work to make this the easiest and cleanest burn yet!

That means:

Reduce family dinners to only Monday / Wednesday / Friday. With everyone being self reliant for the remaining nights.
- Wednesday is our BBQ at the deep playa party, so we will really only have two group meals in camp. Intention here is to reduce commitments and work created by large meal production, placing more self reliance on the individual camper.
- This means we are all responsible for keep the kitchen clean after using it
Our most talented playa chefs will provide recipes for easy to make prepaid meals which can be easy cooked off-playa, frozen and then heated up with minimal kitchen needs on-playa.
Eliminate food prep and packaging on the playa (that means dicing veggies, reducing all packaging, prepping meals in advance).
Water delivered on playa again. This is covered by camp dues and reduces the need to bring in water and create more waste.
RV pumps organized with United in advance. If you plan to have an RV and would like to pre-pay for pumps please email stevenjgray@gmail.com
Camp dues cover all the infrastructure, storage, hauling, equipment, supplies and party needs to make ZaZen happen. We are working these out and will be in touch as soon as we have figures $$.

Projects / Interactivity

The BM Org is pushing hard for improved interactivity from theme camps, so we are working to add some concepts to the camp this year.

The Cosmic Confessional
- This will be a new ZaZen interactivity. Placed on the street as a place for passers by to sit and take confession with us. We ask all campers to play the "priest" throughout the week, and will have a box and pad of paper for confessions to be left when the booth is not manned.
  - ACTION = We are requesting volunteers to help build this and bring it in. Please reach out directly if interested and we can discuss how we can most effectively create this.
Game Zone
- We will set this up as we did int 2019. Tetherball, bags, horseshoes, etc.
  - ACTION = If anyone has additional yard games please let us know and we can add to the arcade.
Playa Prom Photo-booth.
- This will be a space within our shade where we will have a cheesy backdrop and costume box for people to take prom photos. Campers are encouraged to grab a silly prom outfit (outrageous dress, ruffly shirt, ugly ass tuxedo) from thrift to donate for this activation.

Events / Parties

MONDAY:

Intention Ceremony - Late Afternoon 2-3ish - Ohm Dome --
- ACTION - Each camper asked to attend to discuss camp guidelines, responsibilities and set your intention for a heart expanding week
Saki Social Happy Hour - 5-7pm before dinner - Camp Bar
- ACTION - Each camper will be asked to provide a large bottle of Saki.

TUESDAY / THURSDAY

Wellness hour in the OM DOME
- ACTION - We are requesting volunteers to lead these practices. We can do these daily if we have interest and teachers.

WEDNESDAY

The Infamous Deep Playa Party - Afternoon - Deep Playa
- In effort to get camp interactivity credit for this we are looking into the option of starting this party in camp, then leading a march with the Pariah Express out to the party location, picking up people along the way.
- ACTION = Each camper will be asked to provide a case of beer
