Homies

Yo! This is the open discourse page for any Homies to touch base.

Born out of Homies Cosy Teahouse, a progressive, experimental 'cafe community' which originally operated between Oct 14 ~ Mar 15 in the heart of Pōneke, 'Homies' now reflects the expansive group of anyone who has skills, ideas and conversations to share into the rising wave of positive communal manifestation in our city/country/world.

The creative mediums which were explored through the Homies Cosy Teahouse project were hospitality and both street + cyber networking. Its creator, njs, is interested in the purposes of service, small-talk, public indoor spaces and water/nutrition in the modern privatized world.

"Exploring the theory that giving is what makes anyone truly rich, I challenge the current evaluation of 'monetization', 'value' and 'finance' in the observation that we struggle to value intangible, communal wealth over the artificial representation of the worldwide currency of 'gold' (and the companies controlling its distribution); despite the personal harm and global suffering generated from this habit. There has grown a need for real people to connect their individual desires with each others abundances, to connect their individual experiences with the collective truth, to see each other as their iwi rather than their enemy."

Due to the open nature of its "all welcome, no obligatory charge, free tea" policy, the teahouse quickly grew into a space filled with life, discoveries, dancing, learning, introducing, napping, rapping, chess and zines.

Homies has bloomed into an ever-expanding (often unconsciously) community of open-minded thinkers, makers, warriors and collaborators. We host events designed to facilitate constructive reflection and productive invention.

We endeavor to make a community which accurately reflects our collective wants, needs and dreams.
We endeavor to encourage conversation, collaboration and lucid fluidity within our community.
We endeavor to empower those of all ages, skills levels and backgrounds to stand up and be the change.
We endeavour to become one tribe, somewhere between a community and a family, a force of and for the people, who work together to develop a thriving future culture for Wellington and New Zealand.

Join freely, share freely, introduce yourself, respect each other, dont be afraid to ask, dont be afraid to dream, stay hydrated.
