Transitioning to FLOSS software / online tools

We should be doing this! How? Degooglification is necessary. De-facebookification too... What do you suggest in terms of alternative platforms?

We could have started not with google docs, but with etherpad or whatever. But they are not interlinked - or at least not kept in folders, as far as I know...

Diaspora would be the alt to fb, but nobody is there, it has no groups and no chat..

Loomio is not good for everything..

A couple of years ago there was a very good work group / social media tool called n-1.cc (run by lorea.cc) which was in use in 15M protests in Spain in 2011 and which we have also used for Korppiradio and our co-op development etc. But anyway maybe two years ago it just disappeared and I haven't found any trace of it looking in the internet for a reason why it was shut down, which is kind of worrying.

But now I found this: http://comunes.org/
There's the kune.cc work group tool, which I guess is similar to n-1.cc
And I like their manifesto.

I also think that using facebook and google is problematic, we need to be free of those.

Tricky, those tools work well cause they have massive maintenance behind it

I've worked with these, and they seem fine, but are not in folders: https://titanpad.com/ep/pad/create?padId=480dfjzlke

New digital tools are important but their development and using trial and new versions is for "nerds".
Should there be separate co-ops for developing digital products?
if you want to concentrate in your core business which is not digital - but for instance growing potatoes - and not to waste your time with phones-computers, you must use microsoft/apple/android/google/facebook.
This is analogical to the problem with coops-bureaucrazy-prekariat.
And Time Bank - tax bureaucrazy.
Should there be special department in coopofcoops which tests, introduces and teaches linux- etc. systems for the rest of the coopofcoops and other co-ops when they are really working and sustainable and easy to learn. And a department which maintains these systems?

An exeption? ecosia.org instead of google - but again same problems: 1. There will be advertisements and data mining. 2. In many cases google is better. But 1. You should click the advertisements to get more trees planted but you dont have to buy what they advertize. In the end what really matters is that we get the trees planted! 2. In most cases you find what you need with ecosia.org. And if you cant you can always then use google.

This is a very simple tool called Padlet, that is quite useful to exchange ideas that we can all see on the same board.

I'm just trying out https://kune.cc/
It seems to be quite good! You can make an open group for a project, an organization or a collective, or a closed group. Should we make a group there to try it out?
