[Mastodon] Code of Conduct

H HgO Public Seen by 34

During the last couple of months, we worked on a Code of Conduct for our Mastodon instance.

The document is almost finished :tada: , and we are now making a call for review and comments. All suggestions are very welcome :) The draft is on this pad, which you can freely edit. Please notify your changes on this thread, because we don't receive alert when the pad is modified.

We plan to release this Code of Conduct next week (10th August ?). Of course, there are still things missing, but we think it's good enough for now ;)

The codex is part of our basic text which is already mentioned in this first version of the Code of Conduct for Mastodon (it's in the 2nd sentence already)

It's released: https://mastodon.pirateparty.be/about/more ! :tada:

We still need to translate it in Dutch: https://pad.parley.be/p/mastodon-welkom :) (cc @iljabaert @koenvdp @josse maybe?) Thanks!

Dear HgO, about 5 days ago, I proposed a translation on the pad. Did you see it? :nerd:

Thanks a lot @koenvdp ! There are a few lines missing still, but from what I read it seemed impeccable :)

The missing lines :

"Being a member of the Pirate Party or contributing to the Pirate Party does NOT absolve you to respect these guidelines.

How is moderation handled?

The moderation team will do its best to understand the context of each problem and will decide in good faith on what is the best action to take. When we decide to mute or block an instance, it will be announced on the @ppbe account.

This section is still a work in progress. You can check our internal documentation for more details, although this might sound more technical. If you want to help, you can edit this pad and contact the @ppbe account with your changes."

Dear Renaud,

-Ok, I guess I added the translation of the lines on the pad a few seconds ago.
-Were these lines added in the English text after I translated? If so: wouldn’t it be best to have something translated after there has been agreed upon a ‘final’ English (or French) text? (If translators are put to work when the English of French text to translate is still in progress of being written, I believe this will result in: more mistakes in the translated text, more work to translate, a translation which is less good/consistent, and overall less efficiency; in my personal opinion)

Thanks again @koenvdp :)

I agree with your suggestion, it's important we translate a text that is already finished. Although in this case the English text was already complete, so these lines were part of the text when @hgo announced it and hasn't been changed since then.
