"Sub-Groups" with in Sub-groups?
As a long time internet forum user, I have always been a fan of how they organize discussions and information. Also I like how my p.c.’s explorer program allows me to place documents in folders and folders within folders and so on. As such, I think I tend to be oriented towards such an organizational format.
I just ran into a problem with loomio where it would be extremely helpful organizationally if I could create sub-groups within sub-groups.
Would it be possible to add this feature?
I am trying to set up loomio boards for student governments within their shared governance structures between student’s faculty and administrators. I would like this to be linked on a statewide network between three different state supported school systems totaling over hundreds of campuses and millions of students. There are multiple different school systems, different schools within these systems, and different types of committees and it would be good to be able to organize them all accordingly in a fashion that flows well, mostly having subgroups in subgroups.
One of the biggest problems we have with student government and organizing is institutional memory, coalitions, getting feedback and involvement from students and finding out what is happening at other campuses.
This could really solve it.
Ah ok cool. I think for the time being I will have to set up on internet forums and then have them link to loomio polls and such.
I read how one group is using their loomio group in coordination with reddit?
Any other groups doing this stuff with other platforms?
I wonder if a sort of custom version of the Explore page would actually work for your use case, where it showed not all public groups under general categories, but a set of groups you chose under categories you defined (like geographical area or school system for example). That would be more of a directory than a nested groups model but it could be a start.
Tell me more about how your see your use case working.... what would it need to do? We're starting to look into how Loomio would need to work to be effective for large scale groups more and more.
