A record of the number of views a discussion has.
Would it be useful to have the number of views a discussion has shown in the discussion context box?
I think it would be useful in terms of learning how many people/users have looked at a discussion. It would give a more accurate picture of the level of involvement in a discussion and more generally in the community. it would be helpful in terms of knowing how many people are aware of the full details of the discussion and or proposal.
Hi @christaklis and @neilmorris — for your interest, here's a discussion had a few months back on a way of tackling the same issue.
Thanks @matthewbartlett I like the concept expressed there, however I'd prefer it to be actually shown on the page, rather than having to move my mouse, so I can visually pick up the information as I am reading a thread.
There is a difficultly though in terms of recording the stats, as people may read the information in a post in an email notification.
We have a metrics genius in our team.. and he is just about to start applying his skills to user facing parts of the app. I'm sure that number of views and more telling information will be available shortly
That sounds great! I look forward to that development.
@neilmorris if you had the time/interest it would be interesting to see a sketch of how you envisage it working.
@matthewbartlett It might be quicker and easier (for me!) if I described it here.
Firstly on the discussion context area, under the area where it says Started X days ago I would suggest putting Seen by: x (number) of users Emailed to: x (number) of users.
Given the numbers will be different for each comment made I would also do the same in the bottom bar of every comment i.e. where it says x day ago · Like .. but I would right align it.
It would also need to be under the proposal area. I would suggest in a line immediately under where it says:X% of members have stated their position (XX/XX)
yes
