If your report contains private information, or you would rather contact us directly, please email contact@loomio.org.
@david rayner I don't expect there are any problems.. You've confirmed the notification settings are correct?
I just received my "Yesterday on Loomio" email, so it's definitely working sometimes.
Are you receiving other email notifications, such as this one?
is there a timezone lag which explains why i did not get a digest today about msgs from yesterday? or a bug in the new notification settings?
not in spam...where loomio mail has been placed once or twice lately...that has been reported to me by other members as well.
new interface works well for me otherwise...big thanks.
@Robert Guthrie good question but only this. (beta still not optimal for my system. i need more ram.)
i first noticed this and then neglected to ask as it was
a/not pressing
b/unsure if it was a server thang and would resolve itself
c/forgot
at least 6 months to a year ago (maybe) and re-remembered on nov 30 when i encountered it again.
but i do notice that the saved document links are different now...like the server knows where to point.
data....the new pollution...that we cling to...like old minutiae. (
thank u for this platform and i trust that u are getting enough rest. and triumphs. 🎪
@david rayner i wonder if you were using the beta interface, and now are using stable?
@Robert Guthrie well....the files from earlier than oct 2019 all seem to work now and i did not do anything different...at all. (and they have a different target link (not xml) than from a week ago.)
hmmmm...
thanks
@Robert Guthrie big thanks.
ok...will check and get back to u....good old f5...never thought of that.
mind u...i clear browser cache in a regular fashion anyway.
(muses to oneself) or is that not the same thing? another rabbithole to research.
@david rayner - I've looked into this and I believe all the attachment links in that thread are working. Please email rob at loomio dot org with a link to a particular attachment that you believe is not working.
Please ensure you refresh the page before clicking a link, as very old links might have their access code expire.
aha...all those files are now xml with that txt in....
hi...
i found earlier this year (and found again today) that all the posts in https://www.loomio.com/d/lRjo3Wtf/minutes-thread/70 with saved info from oct 2019 back give this kind of error msg when opening is attempted.
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

is this terminal? (and yet another reason for point of origin backups?)
it must be said...at least we don't live somewhere that has been really munted.
@Julie Nevin - I've had at attempt at understanding and fixing this problem - (where clicking edit can show a blank textarea). It's a difficult problem because I cannot easily reproduce it, so If you see it again please let me know.
That's good. I do think this is a bug though. I'll look into it.
@Robert Guthrie Yes it does
Does the reset button work in this case?
@Robert Guthrie This might be an extension of the previous problem or something new: If I try to edit this existing thread it takes me to a 'blank template' screen (i.e. the current content is lost UNLESS I hit the 'reset' button):
@Robert Guthrie That probably explains it, thank you. And ABSOLUTELY 'yay' for autosaving the drafts - I can't tell you how many times I accidentally lost stuff in the past, and it was the chief complaint from our users! So YAY! Well worth any weird side effects, especially when they are easily reset.
@Robert Guthrieappreciate the changes
@Julie Nevin - Thanks for raising this. There is a delicate balance here. As of recently, we automatically save drafts of content, so if you accidentally navigate away, or refresh the page, we restore what you had typed (yay).
This means that if you start a thread from a template, and navigate away before using it, then that text will be there the next time you go to use that template.
When you start the thread, the form is reset, so you will see a fresh copy of the template after starting a thread.
In the case where you begin a new thread, then decide to abandon it, then want to start a new thread from that template, you can use the "Reset" button to restore the original template text:
This works on editing threads too.. so if you edit then want to discard those changes, you can click the reset button.
One final thing, if you use Reset, then change your mind and want your edits back, you can Command/Control Z and undo the reset.
Actually, I just went looking for an example, and they appear to have all reverted to their original template state, so perhaps it's already fixed!
A template bug?
Recently it appears that when I use a template to create a new thread, the template isn't left intact. Instead, it is populated with at least some of the content that I added into it to create the new thread. Next time I use the template, it doesn't function as a template any more.
@Julie Nevin - Those images are restored now.
I have restored all images uploaded up until June 18. Working on June 18 to August 1 (the last date of lost images) now. Might be next week I have that completed.
@Julie Nevin - We're recovering the files now, it will take 24 hours or so. More details to follow.
@Julie Nevin Thanks, will look into it today and get back to you
We seem to have lost most of our images, such as here https://www.loomio.com/d/UG9VDTQY/3b-prioritising-policy-development
I contacted you privately after fixing this, but just wanted to add a comment so the public record shows these issues have been fixed.
@Midi Berry - I'll look into this shortly
Hi dear Loomio
I want to flag a few glitches that appeared in our recent use of dot vote:
1 The slider skipped some numbers (tried on different browsers and problems occurred - sometimes it was even numbers skipped, on others it was odd numbers). We were able to adjust manually because numbers voting were small but it was an irritant which we hadn't experienced previously.
2 More seriously, in terms of trust in poll results, the numbers shown as voting (8 out of 10) did not match with the votes that appeared (6 out of 10, with one of the 6 being a changed vote, while the original still showed).
We really like the dot vote for certain of our decision making processes, so would be very grateful if you can check it out for bugs. I can send a screenshot of the vote in question to you privately if you need but prefer not to show it here out of respect to individuals named.
Thanks a lot! Oh and by the way, is there a reason you have reduced the capability of the meeting time poll from the capacity to indicate half hours to meetings starting only on the hour?
@Robert Guthrie Thanks Rob.
@Midi Berry - thanks for your kind words. No there is no plan to add this functionality right now - but I agree it fits within Loomio's scope.
You can create a poll template with "Attending", "Not attending" style options, but there isn't calendar integration for that currently.
If a customer wanted to sponsor development of this, we'd be happy to discuss.
First, our gratitude for Loomio in so many ways and, most recently, for making it easy for us to change our community name while retaining all the members and active subgroups of our community.
Second, a question to you @Robert Guthrie - is there anything in the works around incorporating an events calendar/announcements/invitation system into Loomio?
@Julie Nevin thanks, that should be enough detail for me to look into it and get back to you.
Possible bug from one of our users: "Notification settings seem awry, I am only really notified if someone creates a thread, and the ability to prioritise my subgroup seems buggy. I've set notifications for my subgroup to be everything, but I am not notified when someone comments on one of my threads, only if they specifically tag me."
@Jonathan Singer can you send me the notification? rob@loomio.org
We are not aware of any data breach of Loomio data. My assumption is your password was leaked by another site.
I just got an alert from Google that my email and password was part of a data breach that leaked my info on the dark web. I've changed my password.
@Luke yeah, even companies with multiple developers (cough, ahem) have trouble making perfect experiences eh. Thank you so much for becoming our first Github supporter.
@Robert Guthrie
Thanks; it's not much but it's done. I have to say that the experience wasn't nice though; no way to change the currency, no possibility to not store the credit card even for a one time payment, and I had to create a ticket to the support to delete it (pending).
Nevertheless, thanks again for your work!
@Luke yeah, currently, Framasoft does not contribute back to Loomio. We often get support requests from their users.
I've added Github sponsors to the Loomio repo, so if you'd like to directly contribute, there is now a way to do that.
@Robert Guthrie, thank again, just noticed the PR https://github.com/loomio/loomio/commit/c514727ac56567779465662df81bea8453ecebfc. Amazed that you replied to this so quickly :)
I'm not in charge of the instance and cannot just move away. In case you're interested, the association hosting it is a french non-profit trying to promote libre tools: framasoft.org.
I do donate to framasoft but I couldn't find any way to donate to loomio itself, is it a possibility ?
@Luke i updated the product based on your request. Please consider using Loomio.com rather than a free option which does not support my work.
@Robert Guthrie Thanks a lot!
I have to ask though, is that an option for admins to do this or did you update the product?
I'm a user in another loomio instance, will this become available when the admin update the version or should I contact them?
@Luke thanks for mentioning it. I've added the ability to manually set the timezone in the edit profile page. Just uncheck autodetect time zone and you can select the zone you want.
The missing option to set your timezone in loomio is an issue for me. As far as I remember there was a discussion about asking what would be the point of that option, I can bring you one:
Firefox, when set to prevent tracking, will show the timezone as UTC to avoid leaking your location. And because Loomio takes it from the browser without allowing to override it, any datetime I see is wrong.
Could you consider making it possible to manually override the detected timezone?

@Peter Eid - ZD Nice Could you please email the URL of the thread to rob@loomio.org - I'll investigate
@Robert Guthrie Thanks for your answer.
It is on loomio.com.
I tried the different layout options but it did not seem to do anything at all...
Hi @Peter Eid - ZD Nice, is this a thread on loomio.com or another server?
One thing to try is changing the thread layout from say.. nested to flat, and back again, sometimes that can help.
If not then I'll need to take a look at it myself.
Hi,
Posting here as, for a while, we have been encountering issues related to ordering and hiding of threads on a specific (admittedly quite large) discussion of our Loomio.
The former can be observed on the first screenshot; it is in French, but the dates are 11th Dec 2023, 12th Dec 2023 and then 23rd March 22! The discussion is ordered by "most recent first"...
The latter can be seen on the second screenshot; again it is in French but the banners signalling 'hidden' answers/threads display negative values and clicking on those (whether they have negative values or not) does not do anything.
Would you have any idea how to solve this situation? Many thanks!
minor issue i have noted for a while...
a few threads i pinned to top of frontpage migrate to top of page 2.
the keeping them current (and on front page) workaround is cumbersome...(unpinning,posting repinning)
any suggestions?
@Sam Rossiter great to hear you're using Loomio already, and with the chatbot integration.
We don't have plans to make threads optional at this stage, but some stuff in the pipeline could improve the experience a little for you: showing the current/recent polls card under the group description.
Then with starting threads disabled for members it should feel fairly poll specific.
@Robert Guthrie Sure, I have it integrated in Mattermost as a #decisions channel. Most discussion & small decisions happen in Mattermost. When there is a 'formal' decision to make we do that in Loomio. Someone opens a consent process in Loomio (which pings the #decisions channel). Essentially we have threaded tools already, we don't wish to duplicate them.
@Sam Rossiter would you like to tell me about how you're using Loomio, or intend to, so I understand why someone would want to remove the threads function?
thanks @Robert Guthrie yes i got that msg thru to my inbox...maybe it was just a hiccup(and settings were the first thing i checked, to find that there were system changes. settings seemingly the same...ergo, i reported.)
but...after all..i do use a mainstream, busy email provider (but not googolplonkers.)
a loomio daily catchup was found in my daily checked yahoo spam recently...lots of usually received email of different sorts (including Bank mail) in there lately.
sometimes i wonder what is excised so i do not receive at all...hmmm...
ps
still adore the single key stroke popup closure...thanks for the wondrous community platform.
