No. The currency is not valid, but your money is safe. You can get your existing currency notes to the new ones in any Bank or Postoffice. Please be assured that your earnings and savings are safe.

Petrol pumps will accept the older 500 and 1000 Rs notes till 14th November.
- Petrol stations will be punished for not accepting the larger denomination bank notes
- The Govt has asked the public to tweet if they find any petrol pump not accepting the older notes. (will find out and share which twitter id to tweet to)
