The Bicycle Choir

Hi folk Phil Dadson is organising a bicycle choir for TEZA and is welcoming all with an interest in the idea to a gathering 5.30pm this Saturday the 19th Seaview Road, New Brighton (home of Positive Directions Trust) Chch to chat. Here, straight off the Dadson Press is The BICYCLE CHOIR . . .A plan in progress:

"The bicycle-choir is a sonic-cum-choreographic plot to mobilize cycling / singing enthusiasts in New Brighton, with the aim of creating an experience to imprint the collective memory and locality with a sense of solidarity and the sheer pleasure of being one instrument (sound-in-motion) in concert with community. It aims to contribute, in its way, to fostering the creative spirit of NB and to support and encourage an already burgeoning cycling movement within the wider Christchurch region.My approach, essentially egalitarian, will involve anyone from the area enthusiastic and attracted to the idea of cycling and vocalizing sound lines of transit around, about and through the local district. The notion of a sound-in-motion – cycling song-lines and singing cycle lanes – is not quite the usual challenge vocalists or cyclists might face, but is rather, an adventure we embark on with no clear outcome other than the shared goal of working together to create an instrument of unified sound and motion, that leaves its footprint only as an imprint on the locality and on the collective memory and imagination. This event will, I hope, be harmonious, recreational, inspirational and good clean fun (greasy chains excluded)."
