Update

Dear all,

please be aware that our desire to create an epi-journal in Mechanics is still alive, more than ever. Since our last message here on the Loomio interface (about three months ago), we can report the following progress:

• Creation of a Steering Committee. The role of this committee is to define the scope and the administrative organization of the epi-journal. By administrative organization, we mean how the scientific and editorial committees of the journal should be formed, together with all the attendant difficulties. The steering committee is scheduled to meet in person in the coming Fall. It currently comprises eight members, mainly from Europe. We are still seeking interested colleagues from Asia and North America, preferably women. An ideal size for the steering committee would be around 12 members.
• Formal support for the creation from scholarly associations. Active scholarly associations in Mechanics were contacted for moral support purposes. At this time, the French MECAMAT association and the European EASD association have replied positively. They will promote the journal and ask their members to contribute to the journal.
