Start new discussions via email
Pirate Praveen PublicSeen by 110We should be able to start new discussions via email. This is important for many of us who are used to mailing lists. Since we already handle email replies, this would be easy to implement. We should ask each group to set a short name (to make sure it is unique) for their group. For example if a group choose "abcd" as short name. Sending an email to abcd at loomio.org should be enough to start a new discussion. For subgroups, it can be parentgroup-subgroup at loomio.org This would be a significant feature for a lot of communities who has a mix of users, some preferring email and some preferring forum like behaviour.
YES! I can't wait to make this feature. It will mean Loomio is a total replacement for a mailing list, with the addition of a nice graphical interface for people that want it.
Balasankar, I would assume the email subject line would be the discussion title.
Yes I love this idea too from the basis of business use of Loomio, just keeps over coming the ' oh no another piece of software to learn' resistance.
This is already on the roadmap - feel free to vote it up!
To distinguish between discussion title and description, can't we use Markdown (or something customized like that)?
