Operation Chaos #OccuArt

Hi there media peeps.
I see the visual chaos we've created and I like it. Through the "multiple images" strategy of the winter we have generated cool graphics and have generated a buzz and interest.
The Phoenix is the bird of the year and the color scheme and banner Ryan created is beautiful. We'll use on the websites and in thumbnails.
We could ask for variations on the theme of the Phoenix like the Wave of Action did for the wave, to provide a visual philosophical explanation and inspiration for this national action.
I'd like to see the media and outreach working group as co-creators with the "studio audience" (as the 99% is pejoratively referred to) and let them make as much content as their little hearts can express and broadcast it for them. I'd like to empower them to create for us without us having to judge them or align them with our visual "brand".
I like Julia's creations and allstr33ts and enjoy looking at all of the variations, too.
Artists and organizers and activists can send creations to us and we can share with the community. I'd be nice to have a spot where these can be deposited and archived for the historians of the future : ) #OccuArt

#OccuSelfie - "take a picture of yourself changing things you cannot accept" like Anonymous did this winter for the homeless with #OpSafeWinter

Tricia can you explain more about this tactic used by opsafewinter? i wasn't aware of it

Sally G Sun 27 Apr 2014 5:15AM
I must admit, I find “selfies” to be too cutesy, self-indulgent, etc. for me, but for those who like them, go for it.
Julia, great story about your cousin!

Thinking about it: It's not very practical to ask ppl to send pics of themselves doing good works . Might feel fake or forced or whatnot.
I just wish we 'd get more crowdsourced graphics

There is the #UnSelfie & #SelfieRevolution hashtag efforts.
The #SelfieRevolution is from OWS comrades-
#UnSelfie is from the #GivingTuesday community..

Creation of Art Crowd Sourcing Stirring Committee Closed Sun 4 May 2014 8:05PM
People think it's a good idea to crowdsource. We already have a Media and Outreach group so there's no need for new "stirring" committee
I propose we empower a group of individuals to create a online tool with a transparent, horizontal process for the submission & display of crowd sourced images along the model of www.waveofaction.org.
Let's leverage LOOMIO this way:
Agree: Like Idea & Want to Join Group
Abstain: Like idea but cannot help
Disagree: Don't like idea won't help
Block: Haven't read the proposal
;)

Thank you. I agree. I think engagement is important.
You post reminds me of when Sven posted a photo of Burning man's encamp as the oathkeepers encampment around the bundy ranch. The picture gave some hope that serious organizing can be accomplished. ( this was before Bundy was outted as a tool)
When someone said, "umm that is burning man" I immediately thought of allstr33ts . I figure in her awesomeness, she has been to burning man. That was pretty awesome what I saw, even if it was mislabeled. Point being the creative commons are an important voice to get people started toward engagement.
For example; my cousin who works for NASA rarely, OK usually never posts about environment issues. When NASA had their #globalselfie #earthday party. He posted about the event , most likely as a nod toward me and to show that not all which is corp is bad ( skipping that point though) I took that and flew it up the flagpole. Pointing out how much NASA could do if they had the Mil contractors budgets. Well, that got him. He posted and earthday selfie, which was nice. And I took the opportunity to say how proud I was of him.
Mountains can be moved one pebble at a time by a babbling brook, then before you know it the mountain has become a beach. Or some such silly nonsense feelgood statement as that. :P
