inbox counts for new users
Joshua Vial PublicSeen by 44I just looked over a new users shoulder as they were using loomio and it turns out that when a user gets added to a group every existing item is marked as unread which makes the inbox unusable and confusing.
Should be a quick fix to mark all existing discussions as read when a user joins a group.

I just got added to a group and witnessed my inbox counter jump suddenly from 32 to 93. Ahhhh!!!
Would it be possible to only add, say, activity from the last 24 hours from new groups when you join them?
I'm not sure adding no activity would be ideal because then people might not engage or perhaps even realize they've got a new group for a while. But obviously adding everything is too much.
I like that idea @alannakrause. When I've been added to a new group I've actually quite liked having the unread stuff turning up the inbox — helped me to orient. But to me the inbox notifications are very lightweight — I know I can clear them really easily. I know this is not everyone's experience.

Unnecessary imho. There is always unread material and I still want to read it and will open it whether it is 5 or 35.
