like option in the context for the discussion area
Would it be useful to have a like option in the context for the discussion area?
@neilmorris I've often felt this desire as well. However, I think the real issue is that the context panel is not being used the way we initially intended it to be. Right now, the context serves as the "first comment", but we meant for it to actually be a wiki that gets filled in with objective information over time as the discussion builds.
So I think once we change the "new discussion" form to post a new comment instead of posting to the context panel it will mostly resolve this issue.
@jonlemmon I see where you are coming from however I don't think it actually will resolve the issue of making the entry into participation lower. This is important in my view as often people choose not to speak/comment however they still have views which could be expressed using methods which mean they can participate with ease.
As someone who just commented "LIKE" on another discussion, I agree with this desire. I'm not sure liking the context panel is the way to go though. However I often want to know who has seen a discussion/comment so maybe it's related more to this than the like option.
@neilmorris @alannakrause ah I see. I think perhaps "liking" or "starring" an entire conversation is more the way to go?
I think it would be useful in terms of being able to acknowledge liking something without having to write a comment out. Often I read something, like it, but don't want to make a comment. It would allow for a higher level of participation through making the entry into participation lower.
