A music and art initiative

AJ Aleks Jovanovic Public Seen by 31

Mark and I would like to explore ways to connect people via music and art. We would like to create a long lasting community which appreciates the power of music and art as a social and therapeutic source.

i wrote the attached blog for our upcoming newsletter - Michelle is coordinating it.

i realised that before Mark and I set of on this adventure that checking in on the thoughts about this idea with you all might be the right thing to do.

Looking forward to your feedback back and blessings.

cheers

Aleks

Thanks Mark, I have to say I'm very proud. Studying circus arts has been her passion and COVID brought it all to an abrupt halt. She is excited to be able to bring pleasure & creativity online and involve the Deaf community. Not to mention money to put food on the table.

Hi Margaret, Congrats to your niece! It's certainly a time when our national community of artists are struggling to be "glass half full" due to this governments abandonment of the arts. The morale is the lowest I have ever experienced. I was watching a clip of an Auslan interpreter yesterday explain an artists intention behind his work it was so beautifully expressive.

The City of Melbourne will invest $17 million in the arts to keep Melburnians connected to our creative sector as the city responds to COVID-19.

Check out Antipodes Theatre Winter Development (Online) Retreat so we can participate wherever we are.

PROJECT #7: THE THESIS. BY CIARA THORBURN (my niece)

An exploration of the peculiar endeavours an eccentric navigates whilst working on their thesis. Driven by physical comedy and mime, The Thesis embraces the mundane and brings it to the forefront of human connection. Drawing upon her experience and training in mime, Thorburn will collaborate with an Auslan practitioner to explore the relationship between mime and sign language, how they interrelate, and where comedy through physicality fits within these parameters.

For some reason I can't see the document but I think it's a great idea. 👍I am sure some of our Deafblind friends would appreciate your efforts and may like to get involved.
