Content in the Blog Footer

G GP Public Seen by 16

Currently, we have four widgets at the bottom of pages: a search bar, an advertisement (that I asked Drummyralf to enlarge), a random posts widget and a Facebook Like box. To reflect our needs better, what do you think should appear there?

Considering that...

  • We don't have enough active forum members;
  • We don't promote the forums on the blog;
  • Facebook is not a valuable community for Nintendo Papercraft;
  • Facebook is 13+ year-old only, thus does not reflect our age range well;
  • Focusing on Facebook likes would mean putting less value on the forums and more on our social networks activity;
  • We have likes, but not content on our Facebook page.

... I think we should definitely remove the Facebook box and replace it with a message promoting the forums. That could be anything, like a friendly-looking paper clip with a speech bubble suggest to visit the boards for advice Mario doing something (like hitting a Question Block) with a message inciting visitors to become a member.

Anyway, we already have a Facebook button at the top-right of all pages (at the right of the logo)

'a friendly-looking paper clip with a speech bubble suggesting to visit the boards for advice' was supposed to be strikethrough. Oops.

I didn't even know there was a search box there... _^
...but I'm fine with getting rid of the facebook box and putting something related to the forums there

As Dark_Link said, something related to the forums would fit, like for example some text saying "Need help about a model or just want to leave your rating? Check the forums!" or things like that would fit.

Yes : we're going to remove the Facebook box once we find a replacement.

Yes : we will remove the Facebook Like box from the blog's footer and replace it with a graphical or text promotion to become a member and/or to visit our forums.

No : we should keep the Facebook Like box. Decision about replacing something else with the promotional message may follow.

Block : there should be no promotional message of our forums on the blog.

We're not focusing on Facebook, so why put a Facebook box on our blog? We are complaining that there is not enough activity on the forums. Maybe we are misleading our visitors by leading them to think the Facebook page is where the activity is.

Agree, it's useless as there's a FB button on the top if someone wants to go on it. No one cares about who liked this and who liked that.

You've convinced me: having Facebook on the website front page does not help the website. Some form of promotion for the forums would be a good idea but I'm sure there are other options worth considering

Proposal closed! Any ideas for promoting the forums? It can be anything, a button, a character, just text...

We're on our way on making something good, but we need something more forum-related. I'm thinking about doing a beautiful screenshot display which I'm probably going to work on this weekend. Something is certain: our current offer is not good enough.

Yes : I like it, please keep it.

No : I don't like it, there's something we should change.
