Articles of incorporation (or other useful docs) - knowledge share?

I Ivana Public Seen by 111

I want to set up a fairshare coop to provide certain services - so fishing around for ideas as to how to go about it

My project will have founders, investors, users and workers and it will be offering online paymnet services - and in that way it will be competing with purely for profit ran enterprises. We will also be for profit - but our profits will be shared between all members AND environment. Why? Because almost all human activity, especially economic activty, does harm to the planet in some way. It either uses natural resources or it pollutes or it does both, and in most cases that is considered normal, the resulting pollution is considered just one of those things that nobody has to deal with and almost nobody wants to either. But to survive on this planet, we have to change that. To be able to live on it, we have clean up far more than we pollute - every day of our existence. So what I'm looking to do is: together with others people running a for profit fairshare enterprise, and returning most profits to projects that clean and green the planet.

IN a nutshell - the services I offer are not for the benefit of the environment, especially, but hte profits they will generate - are.

Looking through the fairshare sefl-study material at the moment, and looking for people who have already set up a fairshare enterprise and who'd be willing to share their knowledge and/or experience, any documentation they may have written (minus the confidential bits, personal data etc) that they'd be willing to share with me - so I can learn and write something adapted to my own needs.

I'm espeically interested in ideas as to how this 'return to environment' could be formalised. I cannot issue shares to the environment, can I? Or can I?

Hope everyone is well and busy in a nice way.

Wising you all Happy End of the Year Holidays

Thank you for reading. Looking forward to your thoughts.

Ivana,

Your best contacts will be:

Gareth Thompson and Daneel Minev at https://solve.earth. They are a FairShares company building a community if eco-entrepreneurs, dedicated to ecologically sound initiatives.

The other is @Graham Boyd at https://evolutesix.com. Graham has created several FairShares companies and has an incubator called Evoluter.

In fact, Solve Earth is one of the projects incubated in the Evoluter.

They should be well set up yo support you.

Best

Is it really interesting? Or is it 'interesting', as in... "how boring... let's move on... "

The positive sense.

Super interested by the rights of environment aspect of this. The formalised return sounds straightforward - just stipulate in a Clause that greater than 50% of surplus goes to eco-stuff, before any other distribution.

In our case, we stuck 'ecological regeneration' in our Primary Objects, but i reckon you could go further than that by making Land an explicit stakeholder class.

One possibility would be to have a Golden Share in the organisation that is held by an ecological trust, or a community land trust? This should lock in land governance.

Currently playing around with these issues elsewhere, so happy to chat with anyone :)

This essay on Maori land trust is an inspiration to me: https://e-tangata.co.nz/identity/tamati-kruger-we-are-not-who-we-should-be-as-tuhoe-people/

Better still is a full level 5 FairSharesCommons incorporation ... Check out my book Rebuild the economy leadership and you, or my YouTube channel for more details, here's a good start video, https://youtu.be/b6VSQTL9nzE only 1 min long, and also take a look at our foundation programme and startup factory on evolutesix.com ( http://evolutesix.com )
