Next/Previous buttons
Benjamin Knight PublicSeen by 31Have had feedback from several people asking for Next/Previous buttons for navigating through discussions. Seems to be something that could massively reduce the strain of clearing notifications - far fewer clicks needed.
I've talked to Jon about this in the past and he expressed that it's a bit of a technical challenge determining the order that it navigates through.
My immediate thoughts are that when you click into a discussion from your Home page, then the order you navigate through is the same as the order of the Home page list. If you click into a discussion from a Group page, the order would be the order of the list on whatever Groups page you were on.
Thoughts?
This is indeed tricky, both from a user-experience standpoint and a technical standpoint.
But yeah, let's nut out the details of how we want this feature to behave, and then we can have a think about how to implement it from the techincal side...
My suggestion would be to have it navigate to the next discussion in that group, and when you've seen all the discussions in that group that had new activity you hadn't seen, clicking next sends you to the group page.
Could also be convinced that navigating through all discussions in all groups in the order they are on your dashboard would work too.
But I think it going back to the dashboard when you've seen all new activity would be key.
One question that comes to mind as I remember andrews implementation of this feature, is do you want it to just flick through the unread ones or all the discussions.?
