Weave Handbook

BB Brent Barker Public Seen by 316

I've created a template for our Weave Handbook, link is below. It is ready to receive summaries of our purpose/scope and decision-making system. I also welcome adding sections or formatting changes.

Elkie and I worked on the proposal for group decision making today. Working group members will be able to edit the document directly. Onlookers are welcome to make any comments in this thread :)
Proposal: How we make decisions

Thank you Julie for this :slight_smile:
I realize that to help me integrate such a text it helps me to have it in French. And usually, what helps me the most for that is to use a wiki :
* it helps me doing the translation
* others can have a look at the translation and improve it.

An other advantage of having this text on the wiki would be to have easy links with the Weave Handbook started :
* https://nvc.miraheze.org/wiki/PreVH_Weave_Handbook

Would you be ok that I transfer the proposal on the same wiki ?

Another advantage : many other translations in many other languages are easy to add. As many as people are interested to contribute to it.

To have a look at what it can look like when it's widely used :

I'm working on translating the "Proposal: How we make decisions" :
* https://nvc.miraheze.org/wiki/PreVH_Weave_Handbook/Decision-Making_System/fr

I confirm this helps me greatly, better understand the proposal.

I'll put the link to it from the page :
* https://nvc.miraheze.org/wiki/PreVH_Weave_Handbook

only if you agree with the idea.

For the fun, I wanted you to know that DeepL translated "becomes a member of the Imp Council" to "devient membre du Conseil des diablotins" which means "becomes a member of the Council of the Imps (gremlins or little devils)" : ))

But maybe it was intentional when choosing the name "Imp Council" ; )

I have a question about the "Fast Consensing" : in the given example, I'm not sure about the way to sum up the fingers. Either I miss something, or there's a bug.

Dieudonné Tue 1 May 2018 6:40PM

Maybe I found the explenation : "resistance factor of two" means two fingers are counted as four ? So they would be 40% on a total of 10 fingers in a group of five persons ?

Julie Wed 2 May 2018 9:41PM

In the example I gave, two people put a single finger up each, and one person put two fingers up ... so that's a total of 4 fingers up, out of a possible maximum of 10 (if all 5 people put 2 fingers up). Does that make sense now? xx

It does ! Sorry for the noise.

Yes, I was actually thinking the same :)

Please go ahead :)
