This thread is used for the coordination of the online work-meetings of the Participatory Tools for Democracy work-group. Here we vote on the dates for the meetings and discuss the agenda.

So, here is the report from the November 9 2017 online meeting of the work group. I edited it for readability, those present, please add or edit, I did not remember all the details. Cryptpad was offline during the session, so we temporarily used google docs. I also noticed, that cryptpad messed up our pad, it overwrites certain lines in the pad with previously deleted lines, I could not restore it either. Not good.

I have notified the Cryptpad developer of this behaviour. He told me this happened due to a major outage in the data center on November 9th:

Dear all,
What about finding a date for our next online session?
I think it would be great to have it before the Christmas break!
This is what we ahve so far in the Agenda:

NEXT MEETING AGENDA
Check-in: everyone to shortly answer a question like: what is alive in me/my work? The check-in is an important practice to help us create a group dynamic, get to know each other, know what is motivating us…

Presentation of platforms we have created or have good knowledge about
15min Communecter
15min CitizensLab (using Lumen;Zoom; Prototypes; network meetings)

Present data and info about the internal governance of the organizations we are involved (look at the decision-making models, look at success and challenges elements….)
5 min Open Atlas
5 min Pixelache (Helsinki)

Thanks Alice, I marked my dates in the doodle poll. I'd suggest we again pick two dates so that a larger number of people can take part. I would put as well the tools survey still on the agenda, but it doesnt need a lot of time.

Great Oliver, I shared the doodle also with "meet the working group thread" as I think most people are still referring to that group only. Would you like to suggest the timeframe for the 2 sessions over the weekend? And maybe also suggest which platform we´ll be using?

So it seems that WEDNESDAY 13.12. between 10-13 CET is the time slot where most can join?

Hi Tibor, I am also a bit lost. This forum has been so quite that it is difficult to understand what is the status of ECA. I personally have shifted my attention more to the Digital Life Collective where I feel there is some movement.

It's interesting -- I have been putting more energy into DLC as well, but even there the work can be opaque at times, and difficult to find one's place to contribute effectively.

To me, above all, this highlights the vital importance, in any volunteer-driven venture like this one, to focus a lot of effort into making the contribution space visible, understandable and navigable. Or, perhaps as well as this, to focus on an effective induction process whereby new potential contributors are hand-held until they find a place that they really feel satisfied in their actual or potential contribution.

This is not easy to do. I'd be happy to help think through and address the whole issue.

I actually like very much the induction of new members in the Digital Life Collective. It's basically a pdf that says: We communicate like this..., we publish like this..., we make decisions like this.... It is precisley what is lacking with ECA.
