Roles and tasks of AHBPA members

DU Brook [SYD] Public Seen by 184

Discussion for the idea of having dedicated roles or tasks in the AHBPA such as tournament supervisor (to communicate with clubs and manage a tournament calendar and provide consistency in their running), a media liaison, a sponsorship co-ordinator (a centralised person for organising sponsorship and delegation of it's resources), etc..

The person(s) for each area may or may not be a rep, but would be given the role for a fixed term with some sort of option for renewal.

Structure, system and roles to be discussed.

Quickly:
- Tournament supervisor - yes, can see that being useful but would like more detail on what they would have to do.
- media liaison and sponsorship coordinator - I think these are roles we give to the host of AHBPC - unless you're proposing we have ongoing sponsorship.

I also think we need to nominate people as international liaisons. Their job will be to talk with the international associations and report back to the group. We give them some authority to speak on behalf of the AHBPA in international forums. In domestic forums I think a decision on loomio can be linked to by anyone and we don't need an official spokesjedi.

a domestic spokesjedi would just be a person responsible for making sure anything here gets out to the website, FB and clubs. I know that club reps are supposed to do this, but it's worth discussing the possibility.

media liaison and sponsorship co-ordinator i think should be an ongoing role. there's so much time wasted when a new person has to approach each company every year and re-establish a good contact/relationship. This also takes the load off from the tournament organisers and helps to the "recap" messages back to them after the tournie when the organisers are burnt-out.

I will put my hand up as media liaison.

I also nominate Brook as spokes Jedi, as he lasted is!!

I think the nature of delegation in this coming year is very highly determined by our worlds bid. In coming years the format can be more aimed at the general need of the community but this year will clearly be aimed at the needs of the hosts of worlds if and when an Australasian bid is endorsed by the international community.

The short answer is; yes, I do think some more specific roles will aid our cause.

Sorry I meant to say Brook already is spokes Jedi.

I too think that specific roles are good idea. i would add the following roles:
- forum moderator
- El Presidente, someone to make the call on issues when votes are really tight. Person is voted for by the reps on a 6 monthly basis, max 2 terms.

Sound suggestion Sam, I second that.

While we are at it:

A rules comity.

Worlds comity.

A treasurer.

A new player/ club development role.

Fuck, give every Jedi willing to contribute a duty so lots of shit gets done.

Also the media role can be in charge of public relations and GETTING POLO INTO THE AUSTRALASIAN MEDIA!

More promo = MOAR PLAYERS!

I agree, a bit of delegation could not go astray.
