Unleash the subgroups? (!!)
Vivien has mentioned a few times that the current groups system is restictive. During the design day we imagined our ideal group system, where groups could grant privileges to other groups, and groups could be made to hold the context of a meeting.
The current solution in the feature roadmap is a big piece of re-engineering. It struck me today that if we just remove the restriction of parent group membership from subgroups, then subgroups would be able to host meetings between the group and 3rd parties very easily.
So.. can we please discuss what it would be like to use Loomio when:
Subgroups can invite people from anywhere, without restriction.
Sub groups still belong to the parent groups and the subgroup admins can choose if parent group members inherit access to the content.

Personally I would also prefer it if parent group admins were admins of all sub groups as well - this has caused a bit of a problem in Enspiral Services as we hunt around for the person who created a sub group before we can do anything to it.

@benjaminknightloom and @vivienmaidabornloo How do you feel about this?
My guess is that you'll love it and It'll make things much easier.

@robertguthrie yes I do love the sound of it, I also think real practical points like coordinators are important to explore, thnx @joshuavial . I think the Enspiral Loomio groups will be improved dramatically by better group structure and flexibility

This makes heaps of sense! I kind of thought this was the first step we were already planning, but I guess we were on different pages.
Would love to start talking about where this fits in near term priorities. Exciting!

The unavoidable restriction is that the person must have a Loomio account, but the use case is that the person is not going to be part of Loomio group X, but needs to be included in a subgroup of group X for the purpose of a specific collaboration or decision? Maybe as an expert/ consultant? Am I understanding this correctly?
