Today we had a session at the OS // OS Conference about the opportunity to develop an up to date Laboratory Information Management System for scientists.
We have interest from scientists, Silverstripe, and some other people.
This thread is meant to be a discussion about where to go from here..
More info coming soon. Please discuss...

Hi Stephen, seeing as you are looking to use SilverStripe CMS as the base framework have you looked into our new online learning library?
Could be a good introduction to working with SilverStripe for people wanting to start contributing to the project. Would suggest also getting an initial SilverStripe install via Composer up on your GitHub repo as a start point for developers. Let me know if you need help in the best practices for setting up projects.

Thanks for the comment.
I'm keen to build a team.
How the LabIMS project has begun -
+ Plan written (can be shared)
+ Domain name bought and branding started: http://LabIMS.com
+ Silverstripe installed [SSH logins, admin, MYSQL access available to gurus to get this trucking on]
+ GitHub project started: http://github.com/labims
Simple wireframes created in consultation with trace elements science company: http://use.labims.com
Potentially useful Silverstripe plugins:
https://github.com/silverstripe-labs/silverstripe-dms (for entering and checking of data).
https://packagist.org/packages/silverstripe/google-maps (for onsite fieldwork, tracking, chemicals, etc).
https://packagist.org/packages/silverstripe/frontend-dashboards (for user scientific data input, checking and manipulation?).
